पूरी दुनिया में भारत का नाम रोशन करने वाले विश्व प्रसिध्द स्पोर्ट मैन मिल्खा सिंह का शुक्रवार को कोरोना के चलते निधन हो गया। मिल्खा सिंह को 19 मई को कोरोना पॉजिटिव पाया गया था। जिसके बाद से लगातार उनका इलाज चल रहा था।
3 जून को चंडीगढ़ के पीजीआईएमईआर हॉस्पिटल में मिल्खा सिंह को आईसीयू में भर्ती कराया गया था। बीती रात हालात बिगड़ने पर मिल्खा सिंह ने दुनिया को अलविदा का दिया।
18 जून को आई इस खबर से पूरा देश दुखी है, प्रधानमंत्री से लेकर राष्टपति तक मिल्खा सिंह के निधन पर शोक प्रकट कर रहे हैं।

मिल्खा सिंह के जीवन से जुड़े अनसुने तथ्य-
- मिल्खा सिंह का जन्म गोविंदपुरा, पंजाब में हुआ था जो वर्तमान में पाकिस्तान में है। मिल्खा सिंह ने भारत के विभाजन के दौरान हुई हिंसा के दौरान अपने माता-पिता को खो दिया था। बचपन में विभाजन के दर्दनाकघटना का अनुभव के बाद मिल्खा बचपन में डकैत बनने का सपना देखते थे।
- उन्हें प्यार से ‘द फ्लाइंग सिख’ कहा जाता है, यह उपाधि उन्हें पाकिस्तान के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति जनरल अयूब खान ने दी थी। उनकी खेल उपलब्धियों के लिए अत्यधिक सम्मान दिया जाता है।
- मिल्खा सिंह सेना में शामिल होने के बाद, उनका पहला वेतन 39 रुपये और 8 आना था।
- मिल्खा सिंह के कहने पर तत्कालीन प्रधान मंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू ने देश को गौरवान्वित करने के लिए उन्हें पुरस्कृत करने के लिए एक दिन के अवकाश की घोषणा की थी।
- मिलखा सिंह ने 45.73 सेकंड में 400 मीटर की रेस जीतकर रिकॉर्ड बनाया था जो स्थान लगभग 40 वर्षों का भारतीय राष्ट्रीय रिकॉर्ड था।
- मिल्खा सिंह की उपलब्धियां देखते हुए उन पर एक फिल्म बन चुकी जो 11 जुलाई 2013 में रिलीज की गई थी। इसमें फरहान अख्तर ने मिल्खा सिंह की भूमिका निभाई थी।
